Two guarantors stand behind the Living Heritage List of the Hradec Králové Region. The Regional Centre is your point of contact for everything practical, the expert committee decides on inscriptions.
Point of contact
The Regional Centre: your point of contact
Your point of contact is the Museum of Eastern Bohemia in Hradec Králové, the Regional Centre for intangible cultural heritage of the Hradec Králové Region since 2004. In the public interest it maps living cultural practices so that they can be supported and, where needed, protected.
On behalf of the Regional Council it keeps this list. Turn to it whenever you are unsure:
- it helps you prepare a proposal for inscription and advises on what belongs in it,
- it guides you through the documentation of the practice and the whole procedure,
- it looks after inscribed heritage and keeps in touch with its bearers,
- it also helps with a tip: you need nothing prepared, knowing about the heritage is enough.
Citizens and communities can sign their living heritage up to the list themselves. What matters is that the heritage is practised in our region; it does not have to originate here. Inscription is recommended to the Regional Council by the expert committee. Heritage matching the UNESCO Convention definition becomes intangible cultural heritage of the region. From there it can continue to the national List of the Czech Republic and perhaps, one day, to the UNESCO world list.
The easiest first step is to send a tip or a proposal on the How to propose heritage page.
Decides on inscription
The expert committee
Membership of the committee is honorary. A proposal that passes checks and peer reviews is discussed by the committee and recommended for inscription, for completion, or for deferral.
