Bobbin lace making in the Vamberk region

Tradice generačního předávání krajkářství na Vamberecku

Bobbin lace has been made in Vamberk and the surrounding villages for almost four centuries, in an unbroken line of skill and artistry passed from generation to generation — within families and, since 1889, at the local lace school. While the designs follow the artistic trends of their time, the craft itself has remained almost unchanged. The tradition is kept alive by the Museum of Lace, the annual Lace Festival, the International Meeting of Lacemakers and the Biennial of Czech Lace; Vamberk lace remains a symbol of the region.
